Lionel Marks de Chabris, CCFP(EM), FCFP, DAAPM, CAAPM, DABAM
 
Dr. Marks de Chabris is an Ontario based physician and full-time clinician with a practice focus in Chronic Pain Management and Addiction Medicine.
 
A  graduate of McGill University Medical School, he was board certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada in Family Medicine and then in Emergency Medicine in 1991. He became a Fellow of the College in 2001.
 
In 2000 Dr. Marks de Chabris went on to obtain US board certification in Emergency Medicine from the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
 
Dr. Marks de Chabris became a charter Assistant Professor at Northern Ontario School of Medicine in 2005 and continues to teach at what is now NOSM University, Canada's first independent medical university.
 
Starting in 2006 he underwent further training in Addiction Medicine and Chronic Pain Management, sponsored by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Canadian Medical Association.
 
In 2009, Dr. Marks de Chabris began limiting his work in Emergency Medicine and focused his practice in Chronic Pain Management and Addiction Medicine.
 
In 2012 he founded one of only three Chronic Pain Clinics in Northern Ontario and he continues to manage and work there providing chronic pain management to patients in the region.
 
He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management and the Canadian Academy of Pain Management and a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
 
Dr. Marks de Chabris has been a Mentor in Addiction Medicine and Pain Medicine for the Ontario College of Family Physicians and a Medical Inspector and Clinical Supervisor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
 
From April 2019 until July 2025 Dr. Marks de Chabris was the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of ZYUS Life Sciences, an early stage pharmaceutical company. Hr remains active with ZYUS as Chair of the Clinical Research Advisory Committee.
 
He continues to work as an Independent Medical Examiner (previously certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners) and is a member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators.
 
In 2022 he became a Director on the Board of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
 
Dr. Marks de Chabris lectures widely, both nationally and internationally on topics related to pain, addictions and cannabinoid medicine.
