Chronic Pain Management

Dr. Lionel provides chronic pain management services at two locations:

The Espanola Pain Clinic (EPC)

Located in the Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre, the Espanola Pain Clinic is an interventional clinic serving Espanola and the surrounding region.

The clinic is situated in the minor surgery and procedure rooms co-located with the Espanola Hospital's Emergency Department. Registration is through the main hospital registration kiosk.

The Espanola Pain Clinic provides interventional pain care including epidurals, nerve blocks, Botox for chronic migraines, pain management, joint injections and trigger point injections.

In addition to interventional care, Dr. Lionel also provides investigation of chronic pain issues; counseling around sleep, diet, habits and exercise; and medication management to the patients receiving interventional treatment.

While some patients do come from neighboring large communities, the EPC prioritizes patients referred to the clinic from Espanola and surrounding small communities.

Unfortunately, due to the volume of recent referrals, the EPC is not currently accepting any referrals from outside the Espanola area. This moratorium on new referrals will be reassessed in early 2022.

The HeadWay Clinic

Located in the recently renovated ScotiaBank Building at 907 Lorne Street in Sudbury, Ontario, the HeadWay Clinic provides chronic pain assessments for the legal and insurance industries.

Waiting times are generally less than 3 months.

Assessments at the HeadWay Clinic are arranged through a lawyer or insurance representative. Interested parties may contact the clinic and speak to the Clinical Manager at 705-670-2000, or visit the website at http://www.headwayclinic.ca
